New York, NY (Saturday, August 27, 2022) – The National Action Network (NAN) today launched a five-day Chapter Membership Drive, which will take place at 44 locations in 15 states through August 31st. The drive will also coincide with Sunday’s 59th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Justice, led by Dr. Martin Luther King and Black clergy leaders. NAN will organize throughout the year ahead of the 60th anniversary of the March in 2023.
“The National Action Network was founded in the spirit and tradition of Dr. King’s teaching,” said Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN. “We are kicking off this membership drive during the 59th anniversary of the March on Washington in that tradition. The same injustices that drove our predecessors to organize that March exist today and compel us to mobilize for action. NAN will continue to drive membership as we prepare for the 60th anniversary next August.”
